Wrong, in 1688 the Dutch sailed a fleet four times larger than the Spanish Armada across the channel and invaded Britain.
However it was sort of hushed up so it is not generally appreciated.

Without wanting to piss on your chips too much, the Battle of Fishguard was the last military invasion, by Revolutionary France during the War of the First Coalition in February 1797. Crazy 1066 right?

The arrival of William of Orange in England was effectively a coup arranged by the upper classes to ensure that a Catholic king was not returned to the throne. So, it was a kind of invasion but not a full of the "fighting on the beaches" type.

The Belgians weren't up to speed on their offering at the time. It took them another 100 years to deliver a competitive package to the market place. They were certainly the market leaders from 1815 to 1945.
