I am getting very bored of large, and small companies that don't abide by very simple basic courtesy.

As far as I am concerned, failing to call someone back when you say you will, or indeed at all should be a sackable offence. Most simple thing to do, even if its to call back at the prearranged time to say "I am sorry, but I don't have the information because of ..."

4 companies have so far failed to call me back when they said they would - two of them being motor trade (which I am used to).

Secondly, companies that say they will turn up / deliver something at a certain time, then don't turn up at all, or turn up late without seeming to give a fcensoredk.

I really do feel like sometimes, I am the only company bar a few in business that actually does call people back, and does turn up on time and if delayed, call the customer to apologise to make the appropriate arrangements.

So what bad company practices really ps off the PH collection? smile

Get used to it. Small companies are disappearing on a daily basis. But as long as it's cheap eh.

It used to be the other way round for me when I was running my little man with a van business.

People would go to the trouble of phoning you and telling you the list of goods they wanted to move, what time they wanted to do it, what day - it always HAD to be on such and such day. Then you have to barter with them cos they could always hire a van and do it themselves cheaper than that furious

So, you book these people into your calendar, turn up - and the feckers arent there. How difficult would it be to phone and say its sorted thanks. mad

Why waste peoples time - I was trying to earn a crust and could well have turned down another days business for you ya prcensoredk

Common courtesy - A thing of the past.

My pet hate is when you call up a small business and book an appointment to get some work done. Could be fixing a household appliance, a bit of plumbing or even a bit of building work. You get the "yeah no problem, I'll be there at 8AM" or whatever. You work from home (or take a day off) to deal with it all and they fail to turn up. Excuse? Had a better offer....

Yeah, maybe they are mercenary enough to go for the bigger project and more money, but for christs sake, dont agree to turn up at someone elses house previously. Have the common decency to come up with a decent excuse or make your apologies in advance. And when they phone back two weeks later and want to book a time, you tell to naff off they take major exception....

Its happened on a fridge repair, a bit of plumbing I wanted doing and 3 different builders (one of whom just started and never came back).

And these are the very same people who complain that their rates are under pressure and that work is hard to come by. Well guess what censoredwads, don't ps off customers in the first place and you might actually have some left to do some work for.

I get a lot of cold calls from people wanting to place people/their products in the company I work for. Mainly software suppliers to be honest and I ignore their voicemails and e-mails mainly as I will look for the goods when I need them. I´m happy to read the odd circular, but being pestered by calls is not going to get my business.
I do agree that when people are working together that common courtesy should mean that you return calls or at least turn up to meetings/appointments..... it rarely happens...

yes

Thinking back, only one garage has ever called back. And thats a local garage who are very good in every aspect of customer service.

Ford never, ever phoned back, always claiming that my phone was off (despite customers phoning me with no problems, and voicemail being active). Vauxhall when I had my company car never called back with the same reason.

You would have thought that they WANTED the car off the forecourt rather than it taking up space rolleyes

I don't think they fall into this category.

Ryanair are what they are and don't pretend to be anything else. Infact some brilliant quotes have come from O Leary.

My vote goes to people who bid for a tender, convince you they can deliver within the capacity of their team then outsource coding to Russians. The project takes twice as long because of the language issues.

When it comes to a lack of courtesy, Tin Pot Airways set a standard that others can only aspire to.
