Fixed that for you.... Last time I drove on Leith walk it was like driving one wheel on the road one wheel on the pavement due to poor patching where they've moved a long line of utilities.£500m to replace the Number 22 service. They could have stuck another lane on the bypass and improved most city roads for that, allowing more efficient movement of cars and buses thus less pollution..if thats what its all about anyway.
The council is still in a huff over the congestion charge being voted no in 2004/2005, they'll do anything to cause havoc on the roads...

Not the SNP, it's the other three parties forcing the trams through. They could be cancelled for only £10 per person, even if we couldn't sell the kidneys of those who voted for it...fluffnik said:

Yep, really have made a mess of it havent they. Facts are, you will be able to get a tram from the city centre to a field on the outskirts, still over a mile walk to the airport when you arrive at the field! There are now so many roads closed or being dug up that the signs have gone from saying 'Road closed, please follow diversion' to 'Road closed, please find your own route!' And thats because all the diversion routes are now being dug up! Feckwits the lot of them....
And just to add insult to injury I understand that for the original cost of this debacle they could have replaced every bus in Edinburgh with the newest, greenest type AND given free travel for every user for 7 years..... when the whole plan was originally mooted it was sold as being environmentally friendly etc. At that time even the most ardent lentlist would have struggled to argue it was anything but a very, very pale shade of green... with the removal of two of the original routes it now doesn't even provide the original cost/benefit situation. It's simply shameful......

As you say though it was within their powers (i think?!) to override that defeat and ignore the other parties (who were always going to vote against it...it was their fking idea in the first place) Still, that's the problem with democracies
