From 'The Week' magazine 19th September......

...the daughter of an aristocratic surgeon, she drank away her inheritance- equivalent to £15m today (not sure I agree with this bit)
.......she gave up the booze and reinvented herself as a cookery writer as one half of the fat ladies.

.....in recent years she became one of the most high profile champions of field sports in the country- cheers for that, we need a champion.

......she has received numerous death threats from 'the bloody antis' but pays them no heed.

Her genius moments:

......"they only stopped sending the written ones when I said on television that I was going to have an exhibition of them to raise money for hunting"

...."once, the antis mobbed us because the police cordon hadn't worked. I just put my head down and went for the taxi........ I once had two people attempt to mug me, and they both ended up in intensive care"

A legend- a strong voice for field sports, and unafraid to stand and be counted for what she believes in.

Madam, I salute you

Dickon-Wright is a fantastic woman. I went on one of her cookery courses weekend....mmmm....meat.

But field "sports"....hmmmm....don't agree with them unless you use a gun. I don't find any "sport" in causing animals undue stress and pain (which probably sounds odd when I'm happy blasting animals with a rifle or a shotgun) but hey-ho, I still think she's a national treasure.

Wholeheartedly agree- I would much rather shoot a fox than see it suffer.

However, the notion that someone 'anti' expresses their view by
Means of threatening to kill another human does question their beliefs?

The world is full of fked up stupid people - everyone is an idiot until they prove otherwise (to a certain degree sadly).

If someone really wants to kill you, they don't send you advance warning, kinda makes their job harder...

Desert Island Discs transcript here, where we hear about punching Alsations unconscious and the real reason why she's a bit rotund, amongst other things. I think she's brilliant and clearly quite mad.

The transcript posted is superb- she really is borderline mental!

She does do a great amount of work supporting shooting, fishing and hunting, but she is clearly stark raving bonkers with it.

Edited for spelling
