Is there anyone who'd admit to committing this sort of sartorial crime? What goes through your head?? If you want to wear sandals then why wear the socks? If you're worried about your feet getting cold then wear shoes.....

I will admit it,
Badly damaged & unsightly toe following an incident with a bar stool years back.

Maybe they are disabled? Maybe they have a medical condition which prevents them from wearing a proper supportive shoe with leather upper? How can you laugh at someone who might be disabled?

As long as I'm comfortable with my appearance I'm not embarrassed.

eta You'd never see me in a pair of Croc's

Trust me, there's no laughter involved. More a mild astonishment followed by pity.

This supports the theory I was just pondering too: I've never met a person wearing Crocs that I wouldnt classify as being a cu'stard.

...dont get me wrong, its not the Crocs that makes them an idiot... they were idiots long before Crocs went on sale.

I saw a Man in his mid 50's in Sandals with socks in Asda

Wearing tight black leather shorts, beat that combo !

Nothing wrong with socks with sandals - just so long as the socks have proper toes. biggrin

Here's the thing, we all mock it, but its a quintessential part of Brits abroad. You'll never see a German wearing socks and sandals, mind you, on the Costa del Sol sometimes you won't see a German wearing anything at all. Thing is it would be OK if they were 18 year old females. But no, its 50 year old blokes. We had one walk by wearing just a rucksack when we were doing a family home video thing a couple of years back. Funny, but disturbing.

Ladies in jeans with elasticated waistbands are as bad. With a big fat gunt bulging underneath. Come to think of it, often seen paired up with a sock n'sandal man. Am having flashbacks to Michigan now.
