Was out on a friends canal boat today, very relaxing. Moor up to go to a pub and I dropped my bloody mobile in the canal! It's an all singing all dancing brand new expensive one and I thought that would be the last I saw of it. Decided I might as well make some sort of effort so I stripped off and climbed in, filthy, smelly and bloody freezing. I could just touch the floor and keep my head clear of the water so I started feeling about with my feet through all the slimey, creepy-feeling crap down there.
Anyway, I found it and lifted it out with my feet.
I'd say it was down there about 8 minutes.
Brought it home, put it in a laptop bag, stuck a hair-dryer in the top and just blasted it for 30 minutes. Turned it on and it's perfect! What a result, never expected to get away with that.

Two days later, phone just refused to work. No idea why, but I needed a damn new phone - two weeks without a phone is a nightmare..
I once dropped my n95 into a pint of coke! When I took it out the flash was stuck on and then it started to smoke!
I ditched the battery out and rinsed it under the tap. Months later still working I traded it into cash4mobile or whatever they were for about £100! result! You'll be surprised by what abuse some gadgets can take!

I dropped mine in a glass of water, and nine months later it is still working. You are not really suppost to aggresively dry them, the best method is to take the battry and sim out, wash with pure water (especially if dropped in saline water)then dry out over the course of several days by placing it in a box of dry rice or silica gell.
Dropping them in liquid is not what makes them break, its the rusting that happens after.

But nay. Stipped apart (covers, battery, sim card), placed on radiator overnight, reassembled the next morning, and it still works. Even passed it on to a friend, about 5 months ago, and it's still going strong.
And it was a lowly Sony Ericcson K850.
