I got told that was true of all bank notes- usually theres a coloured shape triangle, diamond etc which will rub. The only reason it doesn't work on the £5and £10s is that they get too much use (and same for the £20s these days)As well as Scotland, Northern Ireland's banks issued/issue £100 notes.

I didn't believe that and went to check (I collect banknotes) tried a few & was surprised to see it was true!Adam B said:
