This happened a couple of weeks ago, but I just thought to post it here.

I was at a night club with the wife, my annual venture into chavvery. Wifey and I had just entered a small club/pub, when I saw a youngish guy pushing what appeared to be a babies buggy past us. confused

A little later he reappeared, and in the buggy was what I thought was a small child, but turned out to be a young woman, maybe in her early 30's, blond hair, quite attractive, but that was where it got a bit odd. She had a red strapless frock on, but no arms, and no body from about the waist down. The one shoulder her pretty red dress revealed was just a smooth nub that she could move a bit.

But her face, her face was a big smile, she was happy, she looked happy and contented. I couldn't stop watching her, and I wanted to talk to her, but I was with my wife and she was with a small group of friends who passed her drink to her every now and again.

I'm not even sure why I'm posting this, but I seem to think of that woman several times every day. At the time I was having trouble with an annoying painful shoulder problem, but it all paled into insignificance when I saw this radiant woman having a happy night out despite the 'challenges' that fate has issued to her.

That's all, move along, nothing to see here. paperbag

There is always someone worse of than yourself.

A close friend has just lost his second partner in 3 years, both due to cancer, puts everything else into perspective really.

Fair play to her for going out on a limb and getting on with her life.

This isn't going to end well.

Fair play to her though.

To lose one partner is careless, to lose a second........?

(Yes, I know I'mn already on the slippery slope to hell so this comment will only grease the slope ever so slightly).

Not too often I hope - the last thing she needs is to get legless.

Sorry, I actually do have loads of admiration for someone who can overcome such a massive disability. Fair play to her!

Yep, she is an inspiration, as are her friends and family that MAKE her happy and contented.

Was it an expensive club, where the drinks would have cost her an arm and a leg?

Very humbling.

I have an aunt, recently passed her 70th Birthday, she's been in a wheel chair all her life, 70 years and she's never been able to stand, not once.

Strikes me some of us have got it easy.
