Egg insurance - a little daft

Got my building and contents renewal through. £48 more than last year, I checked and the small print is the same (values, excesses etc.). OK, compare the meerkat time ... hmm, should be cheaper. I then go to Egg's own website and get a quote - £52 cheaper. Okey dokey, I'll give them a call and sort this. Unfortunately they can't lower my renewal quote and I'll have to cancel and take the new (exactly same) policy out online to make the saving. The computer says no.

There's actually a few good reasons for this. Ignore Compare The Market though, they're just an intermediary and need to take their cut into account.Silly people.
Also, I think you'll find Egg Insurance is actually provided by Churchill, or some other big insurance company.
