According to Sky News ,Nic Cage is struggling to pay a tax bill of £3.7m

He's not managed that, but his accountant I would have thought.

Does his debt exactly match his tax bill or does he have other debts too?

He may need to sell off his collection of classic cars - if he hasn't already done so.

Crazy.

And while were on the subject of your Mr Cage, if your reading this. Can you start making some good films again please. Con air? Face off? The Rock?
These days you just can't be bothered, can you?

You never know, he might read it.

It seems crazy. I've always lived to my means and occasionally beyond them but when you earn literally millions it does not stack up.

Did he expect the 'revenue' to let it go?

Silly fool.

Can he dispute a tax bill from 7 years ago? Genuine question.

Wasn't he financially supporting the Ghost Rider movie (on TV last night funnily enough)? As it was a massive turkey maybe thats drained his bank balance.

It was his favourite comic book as a boy.

I would assume that he has been disputing the figure for as long as seven years. I can't say that I know an awful lot abiout US tax assessment, collection and appeal procedures.

If that is the case, surely he would offset his losses against the tax bill??

Generally The US IRS seems to be a pretty vindictive organisation.

By all accounts, they make HMRC almost warm and cuddly.

If he's £3.7M in debt then, theoretically, I am more than £3.7M better off than he is. So how come he gets to live the way he does while I have to live the way I do? I don't quite understand.

He has just sold his townhouse is The Circus, in Bath, which must have been worth a fair bit. He does still own Midford Castle on the edge of the city though. Suspect he's not quite on his uppers yet... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midford_Castle

Owing someone 3.7m does not make you '3.7m in debt'.

agreed, but the article is not painting a rosy picture,is it?If someone is selling off capital assets to meet current or past liabilities while still earning then they are in a precarious position,i would have thought.
