'Partner'/spouse work time phone calls

this is a small but irritating thing..

how often do you speak to your 'partner' during the working day?

the bird next to me seems to get called at least once an hour. and when our PA tells him she's at a meeting he calls her mobile straight after...

surely this is in no way normal whatsoever..?

it's beginning to get properly on the nerves of the PA - and rightly!

we speak by e-mail, perhaps 5 per day?!

Certainly not by phone and certainly not once an hour! Totally over the top!

Unless, of course, they've just had a baby or something similarly huge in their lives like that.

What burning issue could possibly occur each hour that can't be discussed at home?

I go to work to get away from my OH. It is an unwritten rule though that unless it is an emergency we don't call each other in work.

we deal with 'administrative' things via email perhaps with the odd phone call once in a while...

seems normal - and doesn;t waste colleagues time etc..

my missus is a teacher, so i only get called during the working day for emergencies, or if her IT / IWB is not working

other than that not a thing, bliss.

The ex wife would call to remind me of things she felt I should be dealing with

I get a phone call most days to kick my black hole of a medium term memory into remembering the 'dometic items' I should be attending to.

Or if something's exploded or broken. Last time it was the washing machine making a break for freedom a couple of weeks ago. How was I supposed to know that leaving the transit bolts in would do that?

You clearly attract a certain kind of girl.


I used to work in a biggish office and there was one guy whose wife would call maybe 4 times per day and everyone else in the office (male and female) thought she was strange.
