Alton Towers...

Off to Alton Towers this weekend with a few friends.
Never been before & really excited as i love roller coasters / thrill rides.
It's forecast for heavy rain on Saturday & i was wandering how busy it will be?
I'm presuming that as it's Alton Towers nobody will give a s
t about the rain & will still go anyway!
Are the fast track queue jumping passes worth it or will we only be queueing for 10minutes at a time anyway?
Also we're staying for the "Scarefest".
Has anyone else been to this?

Rain will put some people off, but not everyone. As its a Friday I think rain forcast will mean most people wont bother. (who wants to take a day off work to be in the rain)
Get there really early and head to the other side of the park, get on the good rides first. Queuing at the beginning will be 10mins or so, by 3PM you'll be waiting 45mins+

This time of year there will be nobody there, i always go either this time of year or in april just after they open. weather can be iffy but tbh i dont care as i hate crowds. I would never queue for more than 20 mins for a 60second ride. I think the longest i waited last time i wetn was about 12 mins,
I'd always go for the queue jump ticket, it is worth it.
Last time i went, straight in and across to oblivion, and managed about 3 runs on it in the front row before any queues had started.
I guess you could do the same with nemesis instead. You can then visit the others, queuing if it's short, jumping if it's getting to over 30 mins, and then back to oblivion for a couple more rides at the end.

During scarefest?!?! It'll be packed! As people have said make use of the early entry from the hotel and get to the other side of the park before the public are let in, the boards will tell you which rides are open for early entry, then later maybe make use of the fast track, I always do, well worth it for 1 hr + cues to just walk right in/wait 10 minutes, they usually come in packages like 3-4 rides for £10.lawrence567 said:

Blimey! I'd seriously consider heading to Thorpe Park, as it's not only closer but has much better (and bigger) rollercoasters/thrill rides than Alton Towers. Not to mention the park is more compact so you don't end up having to walk 2 miles between rides.We're leaving at 5.30 on Saturday morning so should be there by 10sh.

I'm going to Thorpe park next week, last time was height of summer and nemesis was bust, this time I am going on a Tues, no queues for me hopefully

I'm pretty sure it's going to be Hectic.
The guys im going with went last year and said they were queuing for about 45mins for some rides.
So looks like we'll be fast tracking.
I was meant to go last year but couldnt due to work commitments.
We were supposed to be going on a weekday this year but my idiot friend went and used all his hoilday up taking his missus on holiday for her birthday!
They've already been to Thorpe Park this year so don't want to go again!
I'm really looking foward to it.
I just can't see how its ever going to compare to Islands of Adventure though!
