So, I've been a student for 6 weeks now. Moved into a flat shared between 6. 5 of us have unanimously agreed the 6th guy is a tit. Why?

1. Complains about living in a sthole. Does he clean up after himself though? No; this morning I came to find his attempt at cooking his dinner last night, all over the hob.
2. Plays violin and bagpipes at pretty much any hour, very badly, without considering the rest of us and our need for sleep.
3. When he makes spaghetti bolognese, he cooks enough for 3 days and keeps leaving it uncovered in the fridge. We've told him countless times that this could contaminate the rest of the food in there and for him to cover it up. But does he listen? No, we came home the other day to find it uncovered again. And while we're on the subject. The bowl he uses takes up all the space in the fridge. We've politely asked him to use a smaller bowl, but he didn't listen. So we told him again. The huge bowl was still in there.
4. Many a time 3 or 4 of us sat down watching a film. He comes in, turns the TV off saying "lets be sociable" then proceeds to give us a religious lecture for 5 minutes without letting anyone else get a word in
5. Kind of links to 4. Watching Top Gear the other day, he came in, turned off the tv and started playing his bagpipes.
6. Keeps trying to convert us all to Protestant Christianity. Fair enough, I respect your religious views, but I fking hate it when people try and force them upon others. What was particularly annoying was that one of the guys was brought up in a Catholic family, and since arriving here the ahole in question has repeatedly kept telling him that Catholicism is wrong and bad and evil or whatever and that he should convert.
7. On Sundays we have a get together with the girls upstairs, one of the flats cooks a roast dinner and everyone chips in. After repeatedly annoying all of us this guy is not invited to our dinners, but turns up anyway. Scrounges food from us and will not pay a penny for it. He was on about doing the same next time we have take away and X Factor night (I know what you're thinking, why would a 19 year old straight guy be watching X Factor on a Saturday rather than going to the pub? Well, the girls upstairs are fit. And no, I'm not posting any pics rofl) Anyway I digress.

Anyway, the rest of us have had enough. What shall we do? All suggestions considered, both rational and plain stupid. Need some ideas for April Fools. Yes, he really is that annoying that we need a huge April Fool's prank which requires 6 months of planning.

Some people really have no social skills, it's the way they are, however that doesn't mean you have to put up with it.

As a group you need to all sit down and explain the issues you have, give him a chance to air any grievances he may have (just to make it fair) Find some compromises and write them down.

If they are not stuck to explain you will go to e.g. your student union leader and ask for him to be moved.

There's always one!

Oh if that doesn't work add some bleach to his shampoo smile

hw about manning the fk up? If he starts playing his bagpipes at stupid times, go in and stick a knife in them. Insists on using the big bowl, either bin it or tip it over his head. If he came in and turned the tv off, kick his ass out the door and turn it back on.

I mean really, 5 of you cant deal with 1 religous nutjob?

The fact that someone has gone to the trouble to obtain (at the very least borrow) a set of bagpipes (BAGPIPES!) to wind you all up illustrates the mental machinations of a piss-take genius as far as I'm concerned. It's a shame that his adversaries need the internet and six months to help them with a riposte.

April Fools prank? Six fking months away?

You could/should try talking to him. It is the decent, mature thing to do. When/where he isn't invited, tell him why and throw him out.

If that doesn't work, and I suspect it will not, the next time he turns the TV off on you kick him in the pills and tell him again. Repeat.

You have to grow your communal balls and tell him straight up that you are pissed off with him and list specific examples so he knows exactly what you mean.
You can't try and subtley hint, or just lightly tell him with a small laugh because it sounds like the type of person who wouldn't see the hint for what it is.
If 5 people say the same thing to him and make it clear you are not happy then he will soon stop doing the offending actions. He probably doesn't even know there is a problem unless you make it clear.

Some good suggestions so far guys keep em coming!

Only thing is about having a sit down and discuss, we've tried before when we're all in to explain to him that he is annoying us. He says OK he'll try not to but carries on being the same tit. One of the guys did end up throwing his huge bowl of dinner out the window the other night. Sounds like a pretty stupid thing to do, but we were having a student party, couldn't expect much more. I was thinking maybe "garnish" it with crushed laxative tablets and put cling film on the toilet seat. So childish but all the same so funny. RE: changing the locks, unfortunately it's all key cards round here so can't really do it. Unless he leaves his card lying around, then all it takes is one careless soul with a magnet...
We do have wardens we could talk to, but we never see them unless someone happens to set fire to the kitchen, which as you can imagine is not very often.

He told me today that next week he's going home, so this could be a time to have some fun. One of my favourite suggestions from the guys was to put some plasterboard over his door and paint it the same colour as the walls.

Probably not, seeing as he's the "no sex before marriage" type. Again its a view he tries to force onto the rest of us. Imagine his disgust when one of the guys, who just happens to be in the room next door to him, had his OH to stay over for the weekend.

Not sure if the guy is a world class tt or a wind up genius of "partridge" proportions.

Either way you need to tell him all the issues you have first, once you have made him aware you can bully him/torment him/tell him the entire house is converting to islam/pastafarianism/kick him in the balls as required.

Still the bagpipes have cracked me up.
