Quite often people post at the same time, if they don't quote the comment they're replying to the post may end up out of sync and not make a much sense.

Personally I don't understand what issue there is here. Or am I just being thick...it is very early and I'm not properly awake yet!

Frankly, if you say "yes, I agree" when someone has posted a number of points, which are you agreeing with? So people quote (hopefully) the relevant part. If someone has posted a small dictionary worth of reply, then I prefer it when people just quote the person and note "stuff" so that we don't have huge quotes all over the place.

Ah, I give you something far more narking.....re-quoting posts with loads of pictures. And then, this is the thing, writing about 3 words!!

Either; change the [ pic ] tags to [ thumb ] (so it makes the images smaller) or just remove the embedding!!! There's no need to see the pictures again! When you're viewing PH on a phone it can be somewhat frustrating.

That, plus those bloody mods...

Nope, still not seeing the need - the thing you're replying to will be in the quote! There's no need to say "I'm replying to this quote" if you've quoted the bastid quote and it's part of your post!

He is not moaning about using the quote function.

It is the current fashion for quoting and typing "This" or "That" by means of a reply.

Maybe people do it to to let the poster know they are in agreement and like the cut of their jib?

It's nice to be appreciated and if your comments are quoted it means that your point if view has made some impact, whether the comment quote is one word or a "+1" it's nice for the original poster.

They need to put something though, otherwise it just looks like they pressed submit too early and have just quoted the original post for no reason.
