Womens Pub Toilets and Their Relationship to Civilisation...
Discussion
Was in the pub a while back and needed the toilet. The mens lav was flooded and there was a queue 7/8 long to use the single disabled lav. A lass coming out of the ladies told me there was no one else in there and I should use it. So I did.
What I saw in there beggared belief. Being used to the filthy, horrific conditions of the male pub toilet I simply could not believe how clean, quiet and pristine this ladies loo was. Honestly, they even had soft bird music in the background, it was like some sort of third dimension. All the toilets were clean, there was no vomit/piss/unidentified materials splattered everywhere. There was plenty of bog roll, the floors were clean and even the soap dispensers worked. This was just a standard chain London boozer...nothing flash.
Are all women's lavs like this? Are they really that much more civilised than men?

A while ago the airconditioning systems at my gym was being redone meaning the male workers (aircon fitters) couldn't work in the female changing room whilst females were getting changed. So men had the women's changing room for a day and the women had the men's (that had already been refitted).
What a shock.
They had Pot Puri, posh liquid soap, the stickers were still on the shower gel dispensers. All the toilets still had their doors fimly on the hinges.
Such a contrast to the male changing room, where the shower room had to be closed once because someone had crapped all over the floor. In the shower.

As an apprentice many moons ago, the company I worked for had the contract with a brewery for repairs/maintenance. We used to be put on quarterly shifts for these works because what we found was so bad, you wouldn't stomach it month in month out.
In the toilets, we would find sinks ripped of the walls, holes in the plasterboard, toilet seats broken in half, mirrors smashed and even s
t caked up the walls.
It may have smelt, but it was never that bad in the blokes bog.

In a pub in Kentish Town last week, wife comes back from the bogs frowning. "They're disgusting. I would wait until we move on somewhere else if I were you."
Trouble is I was halfway through my third pint of Guinness and had nowhere to put it if I downed it. So off I trot.
Looked alright to me, standard pub loos. Don't what she was complaining about.
Later on in the night the ladies is busy, so she nips into the gents (only one urinal, one sit down - lock on first door - small pub) and comes out 20 seconds later. "I couldn't do it, it's so bad. Even worse than the ladies."
So I would have to conclude that women generally get better bogs than men, and when subjected to what we think is normal, run away crying.

Completely depends on the establishment in question. I've seen female toilets in clubs and pubs decorated in glass, tights, undergarmets, vomit, s
t, urine and alcohol, some with all of the previous. Believe me, there is a class of female who are just downright disgusting.
Surely the same goes for mens loos?

In my youth, I worked as a lifeguard at my local leisure centre. (Forest Glades in Kiddy, if anyone knows it!)
They didn't employ cleaners. Lifeguards did the cleaning at the end of the day.
Cleaning the female toilets and changing rooms was always a MUCH nastier job than cleaning the male ones. Male ones were dirty and a bit smelly, but nothing extreme. Female ones routinely had bodily fluids all over the place, (deliberately) blocked bogs, used tampons and sanitary towels left lying around and goodness only knows what else.
I was surprised.
Oli.

I can't say I've EVER been in a loo that's as bad as you've described, even in some of the dingiest, mingiest horrible places where I've been so desperate I've had to go.They didn't employ cleaners. Lifeguards did the cleaning at the end of the day.

Funny,
I always used to have the vision of ladies loos (NOT that I spent a lot of time thinking about them, honest!) as inkeeping with the fairer sex, more fragrant, clean, nice, etc
Until a couple we knew started running a franchise loo cleaning co and the girl told me I was living in a fantasy world, that she would rather clean the gents any day of the week
(admittedly, this was in Weston S Mare!)
Mind you, even at work in a professional environment with supposedly well mannered and educated people, it never ceases to amaze me the state some people leave the loos in - scum, pure and simple!

I don't think all Ladies' loos are palatial. OH often returns from a visit complaining of broken door locks, no loo paper etc.
And how often do you see a massive queue outside the Ladies' while the gents are in and out in a couple of minutes (hopefully including a cold hand wash and a faint breeze from a box on the wall labelled 'Hand Drier')? No doubt Equality Planning at work here.

I used to go to forest glades. There was a rumour someone put razor blades on the slide fixed with chewing gum! Also lots of floating brown balls - like someone had the sThey didn't employ cleaners. Lifeguards did the cleaning at the end of the day.

ts, turned out to be from the flower pots. Lucie W said:
Some clubs round here have amazing loos. Comfy sofas, lots of mirrors and chrome, hand lotion, and even hair straighteners.
I wouldn't have believed you about the hair straighteners if it wasn't for the fact that we've done some work for a company called beautiful vending who have been pushing to get their hair straighteners into pub/club toilets.Madness!

I am old so this may be a stupid question, but what exactly is the appeal of sitting round on sofas or straightening your hair whilst you can hear people taking a sh!t?Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
