My girlfriends 40th, what to do?

My girlfriend is 40 in 6 weeks and I'm looking for inspiration to make her birthday memorable...for all the right reasons.

Her brother has organised a party a week before hand, this means that we will be able to do something on our own on her big day.

I'm looking for some original ideas, that are going to make the day special and ensure I remain in the good books.

So I need the help of the PH collective on this one.

Ridiculous question no doubt...but what kind of things does she like? What are her hobbies? is she is a girly girl or up for some adventure? I turn 30 next year and if someone suggested going to buy shoes I would run away, however if tank balling was an option I would be like a kid on blue smarties. Otherwise just get her name tattoed somewhere!!

To the OP, random destination for a weekend? You've already said that there is a party planned, so why not look at where you can go on Ryanair for a fiver, and do it. I have ended up in several brilliant cities as a result.
