Breville aqua fountian... what a bunch of crap....
Discussion
Ok the just of it is that I have owned one of these for 18 months or so and then 9 months in it stopped chilling and I have looked at it to see why (not taken apart) and got nowhere with it.
Cant take back to Robert Dyas as didnt keep reciept (its somewhere, just hidden)... so keep it lying around... Recently the Missus asks why its not plugged in and work and I tell her, so she asks why I cant get breville to do something about it bearing in mind its a £100 piece of junk and noticed that a load of people on the net have complained at the chillers not working.
So after a long wait (its now 18 months old) I fire off an email and get this back:
Yes I know its a long time and yes Im a bloke for not doing it earlier or finding the reciept... but surely the warranty is longer than 12 months???
I wouldnt mind a new one but can happily junk it as im not paying £50 for another as I have now got an in firdge door one that has no moving parts and will only fail when the fridge does.

Good Afternoon,
It is regrettable that your unit ceased to function correctly, and we extend our apologies on behalf of the Company.
Whilst we sympathise with your situation, we are sure that you will appreciate that we cannot be held responsible for any faulty product that is outside the twelve-month warranty period.
In some instances it would be uneconomical to repair, as the cost would be more than the purchase of a new product.
However in recognition of your valued custom we will offer you a discounted product for £50.00 if you wish to take up this offer please forward a cheque to the address below

Sorry, I don't understand. You bought a shoddy product, it broke, you failed to return it during the warranty period and now you want your money back?
If people can take back a £3k TV after it breaks 4 years down the line what is the difference with my hunk of junk?
Both out of warranty... both broke...
I wasnt asking for money just a replacement... paying £100 for something that dont even last 2 years maybe ok for you but not me...
Did the reading and thinking I may just take the thing apart and see how it works instead... Then see how well it flies into the dustbin
While I'm sorry that you are out of pocket, why the hell did you buy one? They've had a terrible reputation for years. For example, first non-vendor hit on google is 2006: http://pookey.co.uk/blog/archives/13-Brita-Brevill...
I doubt you'll get much out of them, but I wouldn't take one at half price either. I suspect you'll find yourself S.O.L.

Again, something I don't understand. If you wanted a longer warranty, pay for it. This is why I bought my telly from John Lewis.
ks that the shops like you to go along withI have used the SOGA against 2 shops with faulty electrical items, one at 17 months, the other at 19
I would agree that I would buy a TV/Stereo etc at John Lewis because they are so non quibble about the whole thing, but dont let the others fool you
