Trick or Treaters

Any ideas how to avoid trick or treaters?

I am considering locking the cars in the garage and driving off somewhere and staying in a hotel for the night, leaving an empty bowl and note telling them to take the sweets out of the bowl if there are any as there is noone at home for the weekend.

Anyone got a better plan?

Are you really that scared? I'm going trick or treating with my 3 year old niece... I hope she isn't too scary for you.

I'm not scared, I just can't be bothered with the hassle of someone disturbing me every five minutes along with their "tricks"

So theres a possibility of people throwing eggs at your house, or harder, heavier objects, and you want to be away when that happens, and even tell them you're away and wont be back for a few days?

Sounds very clever to me, im sure you wont come back to broken windows and paint splashed on the wall.

Why not just ignore the door bell tonight, it's not compulsory to answer the door.

The rest of the year I hardly ever bother answering the door unless I am expecting someone as it usually turns out to be energy sales people, charity sales people etc. Friends & Neighbours use the other door.

Only exception tonight will be my partners Daughter and Grandson who will phone when on thier way and will use the other door.

Yes, I know I am a miserable old git. But why should I have my peace and quiet relaxation time interrupted by strangers demanding that I give them something. If I wanted to get involved and people to call at my door tonight I would advertise the fact by having a pumpkin etc on display at the door.

Stay in give all the trick or treaters energy/caffiene(sp) sweets, you can then sit back knowing that you will get more sleep than their parents.

About 5-6 years ago a mate of mine sat in his front garden with a Pellet gun theatening to shoot any trespassers. It really did not go down well but the only people who actually got to his door were BiB. Beer sponsering ideas that seem good at the time

Turn off all lights, leave a note somewhere advising people to be careful as your doing some building work...................dig a tiger trap or stretch mig welding wire / fishing line across any paths (for real fun use MIG and connect it to mains electricity)

Alternatively answer the door brandishing a large knife/cricket bat etc and demand that your callers hand over all their sweets or else, wear comedy teeth just to show that you’re also getting into the spirit of things

I agree it's a pain but at least they aren't begging for money like the 'penny for the guy' types or the so-called 'carollers' .
We just buy a 'fun bag' of sweets and dole them out. Teenies or teens, they all get the same.

The carollers were rubbish in our village last year, stood in the middle of the street and sent someone to knock on each door! Hey love if i'm giving you a donation i want my own performance!

Find some road kill & hang it on your front door next to a note saying "I'm watching YOU"
