Comedy clubs in London - recommendations

Taking the missus out to London for our anniversary on Friday. We have never been to see live comedy and I quite fancy it.

Have looked at the Covent Garden Comedy Club (has Bob Mills, Jack Whitehall, Pippa Evans and David Ward) and the Comedy Store but no details of who is on....simply described as "The Best in Stand-Up"...

Anyone find that a better quality of stand-up is attracted to one more than the other? Or is there somewhere much better we should go?

Been to the Comedy Store a few times, and its mostly very good.

The Comedy Store is a safe bet, get there early for the best seats (ie. not the front row unless you're brave!).

Go to the pub next door afterwards and you'll probably find the acts in there.

Comedy Store, Jongleurs, 99 club, etc - they all have 4+ acts and usually two shows a night - an early then a late (after midight ish)...
I'd recommend the early as you always get the 'hilarious' drunks who can often ruin a good act.

Look at time out and see who is on then check them out

Held in Islington in a nice bar, small intimate location, good beer and grub and a great night!! Not sure when the next is though?

We used to turn up as the doors opened (7pm I think) because then there was time to get a burger and get any seat that you wanted (we usually went for the 2nd row in the middle).

Awesome night at the 99 club.

All three comics and the MC has the place crying. My face actually hurt afterwards.
