Turn up with a 'lazy lob-on', wink at the mum, and declare "you are next" whilst gripping it like a gang member.

just dont tell them that you own a renault scenic.
they would probably prefer you to walk in brandishing a massive bcensoredtt plug and a jar of vaseline.

First impressions count...

Polite. Friendly. Clean (and clean shaven).
Nice clothes. Not too much banter on the first occasion... Say nice things about house / car / music / decor.
Take your shoes off when you go in. Pretend it is a palace.

Call the father Mr xxxx or Sir until he corrects you and offers first name - play to his ego.

Bunch of flowers or bottle of wine and you'll have them eating out of your hand.

After all, it will only get familiar as time goes on, so start with ultra polite and they'll think kindly on you.

I wont bother with the do-not list, regular PH's will be here shortly...

When I used to take girls home in my teenage years my Dad thought it was cool to ask " What are your intentions towards my son?"
It always made them feel uncomfortable and teenage girls are never normally quick witted when faced with the parents.
He got his just reward when aged about 18 I brought back a big slutbag ( this isn't meant to be sexist she really was a big slutbag) who when asked the question instantly replied
" Not much. I'm just using him for dirty sex."

It was perfect and to this day has smartened up my Dad's act. Kept him on his toes.

Just be pleasant. Being coherent helps too. Quite a few of the mothers commented at a later time they were pleased their daughters were seeing somebody "that could talk sensibly without swearing all the time."

Didn't say much for some of their daughters other boyfriends was what I thought.

I always found a cravat helps.

Makes you look mature, sensible, and everything a parent would want for their doted upon daughter.

You would be crazy to turn up without wearing one.

And a monacle if you can find one, that adds a touch of glamour. Monacle not so important as the cravat though.

I agree with plg101, Polite is important but avoid smarmy or they'll smell a rat.
Unless you're going for a meal I'd leave off the gift.

When I had our first daughter my husbands best friend came over to see the little mite and as he passed me in the hall he handed me an envelope. On the front in neat writing were the words

'For Alexandra's first boyfriend'

I was distracted then with the showing off of my lovely baby, but several weeks later I remembered the envelope and just couldn't wait for 15 years to see what was inside, so I opened it!

All I can think that was in his mind was that my husband can appear quite intimidating and that any prospective boyfriend might be in need of something to lighten his mood. Inside was a photo of my husband stark naked aged about 16 (I think taken whilst on a holiday with said friend and loads of mates).

My daughter is currently 16 and a half and so far hasn't had a relationship that seemed appropriate for this particular picture. However I am looking forward to it whenever it comes.

Good luck OP, I'm sure it will go fine.

Just be me.....failing that, be yourself, smile, say please and thank you, treat their home with respect, be friendly to all siblings and reasonably well dressed. There's no point going OTT because then you'll have to keep that up hehe

Make sure your flies are undone. And dont forget to place an opened pack of condoms on the coffee table together with your car keys, moby etc. It shows a lot of forward thinking and responsibility.

I find mums easy to get on with. Dads dont really have much to say lol. Ive only done the meeting of the rents properly once and it was the most nerve racking thing I have ever done lol.
