Any Ellroy fans in?

I'm a big big fan of his novels and I was excited to receive his new book 'Blood's a Rover' yesterday.

His first novel in eight years!




I fully expect this thread to rapidly die a death in here amongst all the relationship/cats nonsense but since there is STILL no PH books/literature section there's nowhere else to put it

I have been trying to champion his books on here for ages. Every time someone asks what book to read on holiday I suggest American Tabloid but never had anyone respond!

Do you have 'Blood's a Rover' yet?

I am going to re-read 'American Tabloid' and 'The Cold Six Thousand' before tackling the new one. Just started on '...Tabloid'.

not bought blood's a rover yet, but half way through american tabloid and then onto the cold six thousand again...!

James Ellroy is an American author who creates dark, complex, challenging and extremely rewarding works of crime fiction and non-fiction.

I first became aware of his work after watching the film 'LA Confidential'. After thoroughly enjoying this crticially lauded film I thought that I would try the novel, written by Ellroy, which the film was adapted from.

I have been a fan of his work ever since, and have enjoyed many of his books.

Ellroy has not had an easy life prior to finding fame as an author. His mother was murdered when he was a boy (aged 10 iirc) and he has a history of depression, alcohol abuse and crime.
