Apparently its a riding jacket, never ridden a horsie in my life, but will be worn when shooting and perhaps for walks when the weather is stty.

Jamie Oliver is the last person I would mimic for fashion.

If I saw a bloke wearing one of those I'd think he was a flasher.

In my local, you'd get a two minute head start wearing that

These are the ones.

Depends a little where you wear it I suppose. Great in the rain at Brands Hatch, OTT walking up The Strand like a geezer this morning! The full length ones can look like you are wearing a marquee! Unless you really are a cowboy, never ever with cowboy boots!

It would be a bit unweildy for shooting, and the people who wear really long coats are often a bit 'different'. A Bedale, Beaufort or Border would be a better bet. *

* So many Bs!

I've got one they are great for seriously wet weather, but you can look a prat in them, fortunatly I tend to look a prat anyway so it hardly makes a difference.

For shooting in you may find it restrictive. I personally don't wear my Barbour if i'm going out with the sole intention of shooting (as opposed to rough or a stroll with the gun) i mean driven or clays.

Good point, I havent tried one on so dont know how heavy it is, but I'd imagine its not going to be very light weight. I dont do any rough shooting, not having any land doesnt help much!

I suffer from the same affliction, Sometimes I think I wouldnt look any more or less silly wearing a £5000 bespoke suit or a clown outfit. smile

Change of plan

I'm thinking this might be a little more in order, especially for a trip to Morrisons.

Jolly good outfit old chap..

I imagine the conversation whilst wearing that fine garment going something like this:

The Major: Strange creatures, women. I knew one once... striking-looking girl... tall, you know... father was a banker.

Basil: Really?

The Major: Don't remember the name of the bank.

Basil: Nevermind.

The Major: I must have been rather keen on her because I took her to see... India!

Basil: India?

The Major: At the Oval... fine match, marvelous finish... now, Surrey had to get thirty-three in about half an hour... she went off to powder her... powder her hands or something... women... er... never came back.

Basil: What a shame.

The Major: And the strange thing was... throughout the morning she kept referring to the Indians as s. "No no no," I said, "the s are the West Indians. These people are wogs." "No, no," she said. "All cricketers are s."

Basil: They do get awfully confused, don't they? They're not thinkers. I see it with Sybil everyday.

The Major: I do wish I could remember her name. She's still got my wallet.

Basil: As I was saying, no capacity for logical thought.

The Major: Who?

Basil: Women.

The Major: Oh yes, yes... I thought you meant Indians.
