Would you let your pet share the bed with you?

Most pet owners I know allow their animals to sleep in their bed every so often, most non-pet owners I know tend to think it is nothing more than the antics of 'crazy animal people'.

Where do you stand?

Would you mind waking up with Stanley the Labrador next to you on the pillow with his paw wrapped round your neck or do you much prefer the idea of the little feckers being left outside?

Yes used to let the dog share many years ago, now have two goldfish and the bed might get a bit wet.

My Springer sleeps in the kitchen unless I've been out all evening, in which case he sleeps on the landing/in my room, but NOT on the bed.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to share with a dog.

Our cats go out everynight. They are cats. They are able to sleep outside. If it's very cold, snowing or wet they get locked in the kitchen. Bed - no chance

Our cats sleep where they like. Gets a bit crowded with 3 of them on the bed. The 4th one has her own sleeping arrangements.

Yes our Labrador sleeps at the end of the bad. Our gsd cross used to too, but unfortunately now he has got bad hips with arthritis he likes to stretch out on the middle landing.

My family's boxer used to kip on my bed when I was a kid. Had to put a stop to it though, once we got a GSD to accompany her. He was just too heavy

Quite. By letting a dog sleep on your bed, you are saying "You are equal to me", which should not be the case.

whenever I am at home one of the dogs always sleeps on the bed, but it is not an intrusion into my space as the bed is 6'6" wide.

Usually no, but last night my jack russel was a nervous wreck due to the fireworks. So he had the run of my room, he slept most the night on my desk chair though.

The cats sleep where they like, that means 1 usually in the kitchen (which he hardly leaves, doesn't like to be far away from food!), 1 on our bed (every night without fail) and 1 in the utility room or outside (though she has options on our bed as well, as it gets colder at night we find her more on our bed).

The dogs also have free run of the house but are not allowed on our bed at all. 1 usually sleeps in the kitchen, 1 in the spare room and the last one normally next to my bed.

Our dog always goes to bed in her own bed....... if during the night she wakes up and gets on my side of the bed the universal command f@@k off works and she goes back to her own bed...... not quite the same if she sneaks onto the wifes side of the bed mind

My father was a farmer and as kids we had lots of pets, but I cannot understand how anyone could let something which licks its on arse sleep in the same bed as them!

Our cats sleep in bed with us - one of them sleeps on my pillow next to my head most nights, unless its cold when she gets under the covers! It is quite weird the more i think about it! Maybe its best not to haha.

During the day the dogs spend a lot of time in closer proximity to me than they are when they sleep on the bed. I sleep "in" the bed, whereas the dog sleeps "on" the bed.

Maybe I am just weird in that I don't see the bed as some holy piece of land that only humans should be allowed to touch. What is so special about the bed?
