If you have a scan I could import into CAD and get an area really quickly.
I have the plan as a gif image but am not 100% sure of the scale, as it seems to have been cut off when it was scanned.

Reminds me of counting the squares at junior school .. a rather Monte-Carlo approach to guestimating the area .. though i'd imagine it's now part of GCSE Maths as part of the continuing dumbing-brown of education.
It probably is, I was very surprised to learn that pi=3 nowadays at school!!!!! 37Flipper said:

Obviously only works if you can see it on Google Maps, but I found it very usefull.

I may be over simplyfing things here but, would you not just divide the perimeter by 4 and then multiply the answer by itself to get the area.
3.23km divided by 4= 0.8075 times 2= 1.615km squared
Only if it's a perfect square. For all we know the plot is circular, or L shaped, etc. etc.3.23km divided by 4= 0.8075 times 2= 1.615km squared

Doesn't work. A 2x2 square would have a perimeter of 8 and an area of 4, a 4x1 rectangle would have a perimeter of 10 but still an area of 4.3.23km divided by 4= 0.8075 times 2= 1.615km squared
