Any gems from your older relatives?

This week my mother in law called and we invited her to tea. She said she couldn't come because they were having a 'dry-run' to find the clinic she had an apointment at later in the week. She has a number of urinary, heart and chest issues so has regular appointments but we keep a list of these so we know not to book to be away in case they need us for transport and when to ask how things have gone and what the prognosis is etc.

On chceking our diary nothing was shown so Mrs 4C runs though a list of the appointmnets and doctors names we have listed to see if they have been moved. The answer is 'No' to them all. In the end the mother in law shouts up the stairs to her hubby to ask what the appointmnet is and in the distance we hear him shout back: "memory clinic"

My nan is the same, visiting birmingham for the first time in many years she commented on the amount of "darkies" that had moved in, we were passing a fairly large group of rude boys at the time, we made a swift exit.

I was once asked by an elderly client, who had just got into computers at the age of 70, and in fairness was doing very well.

Just had dialup installed (this is back before broadband was commonplace), and he was complaining that it was very slow.

He then called me a few weeks later, saying he had gone to PC World, and purchased a 512MB memory stick. He said that he wanted me to come over, and download the internet to it so he would not have to dial up and wait for his emails to come down... hehe

Bless.

A customer of mine has a bit of an odd business model and a good chunk of their users are in their 70's and 80's, they get similar requests, "Can you re-install the internet" etc.

I deal with this age all the time for work...

Was told by a gentleman he was going to call up his travel agency and give them a bloody good blowjob for telling him the wrong information

Was asked if these stairs go up, or down....

My Grandma was convinced that king penguins are 9ft tall, no matter how many times we tell her, show her pictures she will not change her view.

I can recommend "st my Dad says" on Twitter.

Some examples:

"fking Radio Shack. It's a wonder they even know how to use a bathroom and don't just walk around all day with st in their pants."

"Sometimes life leaves a hundred dollar bill on your dresser, and you don't realize until later that it's because it fked you."

"Does anyone your age know how to comb their fking hair? It looks like two squirrels crawled on their head and started fking."

"Son, people will always try and fk you. Don't waste your life planning for a fking, just be alert when your pants are down."

"That woman was sexy...Out of your league? Son. Let women figure out why they won't screw you, don't do it for them."

"Just pay the parking ticket. Don't be so outraged. You're not a freedom fighter in the civil rights movement. You double parked."

"The baby will talk when he talks, relax. It ain't like he knows the cure for cancer and he just ain't spitting it out."

It's of that generation though itsn't it. They see no wrong in it.

My Father in law is pretty much the same. He's stone deaf, so he talks very loudly and once in a very crowded room he decided to tell a joke.

FIL "A bloke walks into a bar with a crocodile under his arm. He asks the barman Do you serve pakistanis? Barman says, Of course we do. Bloke says Well I'll have a pint and give me a pakistani for the crocodile"

Exit stage right very quickly.

"I like the dog. If he can't eat it, or fk it, he pisses on it. I can get behind that"

"You look just like Stephen Hawking...Relax, I meant like a non-paralyzed version of him. Feel better?... Fine. Forget I said it."

One of my patients, 87, a little bit nutty regularly refers to the adventures she used to have as a child with their "N-word".

N-word was a black dog BTW, kinda shakes you up hearing someone say that today. Different age.

Of course, if you had actually heard me say it, instead of assuming the worse, you would of known there was no patronising going on.
