Esperanto?

Anyone here speak it? Thinking of learning it just as something to do really!

I'm sure there are obvious reasons I haven't thought about, but why would you want to learn a language nobody speaks?

Esperanto makes as much sense as alcohol-free lager. You want to learn a language, learn a language and spend time where people speak an interesting slang-ridden version of it

One of my mums teachers apparently married an oriental lady and the only common language they shared was esperanto.

Learn a language people speak.

Or if you really don't want to, then learn Latin or Ancient Greek. It's way more stylish.

Spanish or Mandarin would be very useful, I reckon. If you mastered those two and English then you would be well on the way to being able to speak to half the people in the world, and with a bit of extra effort very well placed to learn other, related languages.

Cantonese is very tonal so without a Cantonese speaker close by to check it then it will be very hard to know if you have it right. True for any language but doubly so for Cantonese, and Thai too.

I love languages but I seem to have room for only one second language in my head at any one time. My recent visit to France was an embarassing confusion of forgotten French mangled with Thai and English. "Bonjour khap."
