What size would they be, what speed could you go and how high would you get if you scaled up play-park swings to be adult sized?!?

That is amazing. However it uses rigid posts instead of chains like on a play park swing. Are play park swings scaled so you get the optimum heigh 'vs the chain collapsing under its own weight ?

Is it possible to go "all the way over the top"? Every play park in every country has a tale of the local nutter going all the way over the top....

Suspect a normal swing is easier to keep the momentum going.

Perhaps I did not phrase my questions correctly, it is pretty obvious why it does not have chains. But is their a limit to how long a normal swing chain can be and still work as a swing.

I would guess it's about weight of the user vs weight of the chain but I don't design playground equipment.

This is a question I would like answered, heard lots of stories about people that went over on a swing but never actually saw it happen.

I would guess it's about weight of the user vs weight of the chain but I don't design playground equipment.

Actually having thought about it perhaps it is simpler than that, once you go past horizontal then gravity is working against you / the chain so you are reliant on centrifugal force to keep the chain tight. Since your centrifugal force is zero at the point you change direction from up to down it must be a bad idea to go above horizontal on a chain swing for chain slackness reasons..

I think you can go slightly above horizontal because your hands create a second pivot point which you have a lot more control over but going all the way over the top whilst still on would be impossible.
