Slightly Macabre...

...but has anyone here seen someone die? I was reading in the paper this morning about a young woman who fell between a train and the platform recently and was killed....I cannot imagine seeing something like that...do you turn away or do you go over to see if there's anything you can do....any experiences?
A friend of mine died with me holding his head.
I saw another close mate die after being run over.
I came within 10 seconds of dying myself recently, and found it rather calming to be honest.
The worst (although i didnt technically see him die) was being first on the scene of an accident when a tanker lorry hit a renault- i was first there to find the drivers head looking up at me from the footwell.
All in all, it resembles nothing that you see as a portrayal in a film, its grim, its shocking and generally unpleasant. Those where an injury has caused it leave you in shock- whether you know them or not.

watched a scuba diver pulled from the water at Stoney Cove and worked on. I was a teenager and didnt know any better to watch.....then tried to help by (doing what i was told by the people working on him) and getting a stretcher from the building and stuff....
He died, it hit hard like a sledgehammer about 5 mins after......he left a wife and kids...

So true....a guy i knew told me i probably shouldnt see this.....i said 'its only what you see in the movies' . After it sunk in i cried for the guy, some other friends tried to look after me but that made it even worse, because my feelings were insignificant compared to what i just saw.
To be honest i was 14 - the people i were with were all over 30.....It still makes me sad to this day knowing he left a wife and kids.
Three years ago a young biker went under the front of a cement mixer lorry. He'd been tear arsing up and down the lane for 20 minutes or so before he paid the ultimate price which was on the entry to a corner he had clearly been planning to take wide. You could see the impact mark his (then) helmeted head made on the radiator cover of the lorry.
The paramedic asked me to get the telehandler and lift the lorry off the cadaver so he could gain access, so badly was the body wedged under the front axle.
As had been said, when its that up close, sudden death is a grisly business and even three or possibly four years later, its never long before I revisit the scene in my mind.

1st. When very young I saw a motorbike go under a lorry. Leg amputated. The rest just a blur. Horrible.
2nd. Driving through Chislehurst in Kent and I saw a bike down. Girl kneeling on the ground in flames. Unable to stop due to traffic everywhere but later found out the rider was a mate and girl was an ex. Both died.
3rd. I used to work in my youth for Rumbelows in the Walnuts Centre in Orpington Kent. I was taking a stereo out of the rear entrance to a customers car. Next thing I knew there was a guy lying two feet from me. He had committed suicide from the top of the car park. The local gym club overlooks the back of the shops and some guy had seen it. He had run all the way from there and was trying to rescusitate, sp, I was still standing holding stereo. Totally in shock. The police did say that the suicide guy may have been aiming at me.
