18 Again...

Here's one for you PistonHeads. Partly stemming off of the fact that I have decided in certain terms that I no longer want to work in the motor trade for a living and will be looking for something new to do when my apprenticeship comes to an end, I have to ask knowing what you know now, if you had another chance at being 18, what would you do?

Would you have chosen a different path in life? And if so, what would you have done, and most importantly why?

Would you have 'enjoyed' being young a bit more?

Would you have worked harder at College/University to become a Doctor/Lawyer/Banker?

Would you have gotten a 'trade'? Builder/Plumber/C

Would you have scrimped and saved so that you could put down a deposit on a house ASAP?

One rule though. You have to be 18 now. No going back 30 years and buying a House for 40P .

Genuinely interested in the results of this .

Except I have many regrets, many of which could have been avoided by simply using my brain and not my nose.

I wouldn't have become a mechanic, my advice would be to stick with it for a while though; its hard to find any work right now, nevermind something you could call a career.

Trust a lot less (or not at all).

Know the difference between charming friendly and attentive (not good), and kind, gentle and generous (ended up being good)

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.


I certainly would never have given the job to service the car to an existentialist - too many jobs

Strangley, at the moment my workload has increased, turns out that the recession has made a lot of companies look at themselves and ask how they can potentially earn more revenue, which is great as a lot of companies with no web site decide that a site could be the way.
