Dog keeps catching birds!!!

How do I stop my dog catching birds?
She is a 9 month old Springador (lab x springer) and is on the whole very well behaved! Problem she has a habbit of running off into the trees or undergrowth near where we live (in the sticks). She comes back with all sorts and she runs around with them with her head held high! so far shes had black birds, lots of little birds, a few ducks, coots, morehens, pheasants and a woodcock! Im really worried that shes going to catch something that she shouldnt!
Any ideas?
PS some off them where very tasty!

Our springer tries hard but has never actually managed to catch anything (other than the bird that flew into the patio door and knocked itself stupid but I don't think that counts!). Living out in the countryside, I used to have a right laugh watching one of my Great Danes run about the garden and fields like a daftie chasing birds and getting nowhere near them. Was a bit of an "Oops" moment when he trotted back with his first "Gotcha" ... one of the next door neighbours Ducks!!
She is a very clever dog and seems to be one step ahead of the training sometimes! I saw her catch a bluetit the other day wasnt sure what she was doing untill she jumped up in the air and caught it!
Id like to get some help from a profesional and maybe get her gun dog trained but have a feeling it might be expensive! I'd hate for her to catch a cat or something similar!

Ella our Springer used to do the same.
I encouraged her to pick up tins of lager , which I let her carry when approaching any wildlife, in fact all the way home to the recycle bin.
She has no inclination to chase anything, in fact I would say she's in doggie heaven when carrying her tins of choice ,Carlsberg.

Having studied your case i can strongly reccomend a course of leeches.She is a 9 month old Springador (lab x springer) and is on the whole very well behaved! In the absence of any sensible suggestions, try posting on the behaviour section on itsaspringthing.co.uk it's a springer forum and there are loads of very knowledgeable people on there. The "how do I stop my dog hunting" question has been asked a number of times so it's worth a search.
