The 'little ice age' in the 13th century

I just watched a 2005 documentary about this on US tv and found it fascinating. There was no mention or argument about global warming, but it did seem very relevant to the whole MMGW fantasy.
Nobody seems to know what could cause the whole world to drop its temperatures some 5 or 6 degrees, or whatever it was, for such a relatively brief period, causing widespread famine and misery for so many millions. Apparently the temperature over that 500ish year period of history was several degrees higher than it is even today, and the mini ice age happened somewhere in the middle of that.
What was the cause? Was it too many cooking fires? Too much of a change in the growing patterns of crops?
Or was it the methane from too many cow farts?
I'd love to find out why.

The most logical place to look for the cause of the warm medieval period or the little iceage, would have to be the big yellow blob in the sky. Solar activity, sunspot activity etc.
One things for sure anyway, it had fook all to do with the myth of warming caused by anthropogenic CO2 emissions!
