.22 rifle

Can anyone recomend me a .22 rifle with Scope and silencer.

We are plagued with rabbits at the moment.

Also I ahave a shotgun licence. How difficult is it get additional riffle licence ?

Its a fair bit harder than a shotgun one.

I think one of the qualifying factors is owning a fair bit of land. Something like 10 acres.

The Czech made rifles out of Brno are a good compromise between cost and quality.

Having an FAC is a different matter though... The paperwork is a bit lengthly and might take some consideral time to come through (best to ask help from someone with an FAC). Your personal history will be checked out, your 2 character witnesses will be contacted (and they have to be of a certain statute), the security of the location where the firearms will be kept will be checked, you will (most likely) be talked down on quantities of amunition and calibers, you will have to join a gun club and be a probationary member for at least six months (with regular attendance)...

You will also need your land cleared so that firearms may be used on it (although it might already be cleared for shotgun). Also your silencer (moderator) will have to be added to your FAC and you need to have a valid reason to own it (which is not that straight forward either - are you a game keeper? - if not, it might be difficult).

Rest assured, a lot of time has been invested to make it as difficult as possible to get an FAC. Can you see the rabbit population increase yet?

Alternatively, have you considered an air rifle - I am sure the bunnies won't mind!

You don't HAVE to have land I've got one and live in a flat.

If you don't have land you must be a member of a shooting club, but if you do have land I think you can apply for one and have your land acessed to see if you can shhot on that.

Doesn't matter you can have a shotgun on about 10 acres, you'll be lucky to get FAC on less than 100.

that is for the gun itself, therefor if you get the gun you will get the moderator (why would you want to have a gun with no moderator when shooting bunnies from 50-100 yards max?)

Very very true - especially if you get an investigator who is not keen on firearms and has no experience of dealing with people who have them - like I ust did when re-knewing.

I wouldnt go down the BB route, not accurate enough.

Get a decent, legal limit air rifle- easier to obtain, and more than up to the job.

Weirauch HW90 should fit the bill nicely.

No need for expense of a pre charged pneumatic

Now, lets open up the calibre debate .177 or .22 or .20..........

Not a chance, good bb's are about 1 ft/lb. If you're lucky they will hole paper.

imho you are better off with a decent air rifle as getting the FAC is a PITA.

If you've got a FAC for the shotgun its relatively easy to get a >12ftlbs PCP rifle, no?
