I wasn't sure where to put this, but assume those who like their watches also like sunglasses! 9Tag also make sunglasses - loose connection).

I'm looking at a pair of Serengeti Granadas - I heard good things of Serengeti on here before, but can't find the thread. Does anyone have any alternatives, or are they really good lenses (as they claim) for driving etc?

I've already got some Oakley A-wire polarised glasses - but they are too tight for me, the Serengeti ones have flex frames and fit nicely.

I bought they Oakleys as I liked them felt a bit tight but thought 'It will be ok' - but they aren't ideal and hurt after 30 mins of wear frown

I've had two pairs of Serengetis. And yes, the brown driver's lens they do IS very good for driving. If I recall correctly, they're not actually polarised but they do have some sort of effective lens coating that substantially reduces glare, and they lighten or darken slightly according to the light levels. However, you've gotta watch the screws in the frames. Both pairs I owned met their demise when the lenses fell out and smashed after the screws holding them in place worked themselves loose.

Every sunglasses thread on PH ends up with folk raving about Oakleys and how good the customer service is. They look a bit too 'US Law Enforcement Officer' for me though.

I got some Von Zipper Rockfords and love them.

Classic (original) RayBans are great but they are not the same since Bausch & Lomb sold the brand to the Luxotica Group. For one thing, the old glass B&L logo lenses are now plastic...

Prefer Oakleys (X-Metal Juliet, Crosshair, XX) now and thankfully have a contact at Oakley UK so I get a very reasonable discount.

In all my years I have detested wearing sunglasses. Until last year.

Now have a beautiful pair of Serengeti Vittorias with polarised drivers lenses. I love them and wear them frequently. They're fantastic for driving and really aren't just 'sun'glasses.

My 9 year old Oakley Juliet X-Metal with Plasma/Fire lenses are still going strong and they're great. Can't fault the Oakley quality and I've had shoes and coats from them with no issues.

Go to the opticians, get a frame that is measured to fit your head and then choose tint and coatings - oh lacks the label, so maybe that will make them less desireable, but this is the way to get the best sunglasses.
