Long story short left my cell phone on the train at Wareham,so upon realising i had lost my phone i rang it using Mrs Fflyingdog"s phone ,its answered by some bloke who assures me he will leave at the next stop which is Dorchester, now my mind lights up at the thought someone has found my phone and will actually deposit it with the station manager at Dorchester, although i have to admit i had my doubts..So i give it a couple of hours, plenty of time for the train to arrive and a potential "Mr Clepto" to hand it over and called my phone again this time its by a different voice..................the station manager answered it ,so i nipped over and very gratefully picked it up. Now the phone was left on a First Class carriage seat, this may or may not have influenced the outcome but i really hope not !
Anyway thanks alot !

I left my Ipod on a plane a few weeks back and called the airline lost property office in the vain hope that it had been handed in. It was sat on her desk and was couriered back to my door!

I left mine in a yellow cab in NY (Manhattan), and got it back after it had been to the Bronx and Statton Island and back again! A passenger answered it after someone called me, (he found it jammed down the rear seat crack!) gave it to the driver, who called "home" on it, and my missus in the UK called my work colleague that I was with and asked if I had lost my phone!! I didn't know I had at the time, but after calling the driver on it, he returned it to my hotel in Midtown about 2 hours later! I gave the guy 60bucks, but had to force it on him, he didn't want anything! I couldn't really believe it, it came back with the minimum of fuss and yet would have been a nightmare to sort if I'd lost it!

The real luck in all this was having a driver who spoke english, of course!! laugh

My iphone slipped out of my tracksuit bottom pocket when I was sitting having lunch at college. I went back to class, sat a mock exam and only when I went to leave that I noticed it has gone. Go back to the sofas and my mate is waiting for me, we scrabble around but no sign of it. Thankfully somebody had handed it into reception.

The cynic in me says that partly this was down to being an accountancy college rather then normal college and partly because it has a password on it. I'm sure the phone can be flashed to overcome this but it would probably deter an opportunist who may just have pocketed it. Of course, it could just have been found by a decent person who did the right thing.

mate of mine was drunk and taking a piss in someones garden one night, he left his phone on the garden wall. the homeowner sent it back in lots of bubble wrap after ringing 'home' to find the address.

it seems there are a lot of nice people out there.

A friend lost her phone as we left a fireworks display. We went back about half hour later once she realised where she had lost it and rang it. Someone had picked it up and put it on top or a road sign to keep it safe thumbup

I lost my watch in a mountain bike crash in the Peak District a few years ago. I was so shaken up I didn't even realize I'd lost it until about 3 days later! Went back to the crash site, but no sign.

About a month later I called in at the Bakewell area police station (which is miles away from where I crashed) on the off chance someone had handed it in...and they had! The little lad who'd found it wanted to keep it apparently, but his Dad insisted he hand it in. It wasn't a particularly valuable watch, but I sent the kid £10 towards a new watch, just for being honest!

Well, one nice and one not-so-nice. I'd have been tempted to have a piss on his phone before sending it back, just to even things up.

It's actually funny you should say that because although he got it back there was apparantly some 'rain damage' scratchchin

My hubby found a rather battered mobile whilst walking the dog, it wasn't locked so he called the number under Dad, sure enough a guy answered the phone, it was his daughters mobile, she is always losing it, but hadn't told her Dad this time, he was obviously local because 5 mins later he met hubby and collected it. Said it was the luckiest phone ever as it had been lost and returned on at least two other occasions!

Was walking across Woking town centre square at luchtime today when some guy in a suit came running across calling "excuse me, excuse me!?"

Chap next to me and I turned round to be asked "did you just go to Barclays?" Other chap held out an ATM receipt "yeah, me, why?"

Guy in the suit held out a bank card "I saw you left the card in the slot!" and gave him his card back.

There are still decent folk out there.

In my village people quite often lose their mobiles in the park, and you quite often find them hanging in trees in plastic bags where someone has found it and left it in a waterproof bag for the owner to find....

Mate of mine left his rucksack on a train before.

Noticed just as we got off the train and it pulled away.

Never got it back.
