Manchester knowledge please

To all you Madchester types.....

I'm looking for a venue for a meeting and photo shoot pre-Christmas, ideally somewhere six can sit in big armchairs and chat in relative privacy for a couple of hours, than take some photos, then go somewhere nearby for a lot of ale and something good to eat. Anybody know of anywhere suitable?

For big armchairs, maybe try the Midland hotel - not been for years but it's old school.

It is a pity, last year I'd have said negresco. Turns out, noone else liked it very much and it closed down.

Epernay is pretty pimp to sit in and would look good in photos if the manager / owner is cool with it. Link here.
