After reading some of the other threads on air rifles I thought I'd dig my one out of the garage and give it a clean. After polishing off the crud it appears to be a BSA Meteor which after some research seems to be the AK-47 of the air rifle world. Is it possible to replace the mechanism in one of these to get it back to the factory power? What is the factory power?

If you mean the BSA is top of the range, it's far from it. However its a decent starter air rifle.You can replace the spring but it will need to remain at 12ft lbs - this is VERY important. If you are caught with an air rifle >12ft lbs then you will require a FAC.
