More to the point, what are we going to call the next decade?

We've had the 80's, 90's, noughties, now what? I suppose when we get to 2013 we can call them the teenies!

That kind of puts it into perspective. End of the first decade of the 21st century already, blimey.

I can still remember being driven home from a house party by my mates mum on Jan 1st 2000 looking around at the clear blue skies and thinking "The world is still here". Just 2012 to go then what's the next EOTW date after that?

Isn't this where we argue about which is the **real** end of the decade, 31/12/09 or 31/12/10??

There is no valid argument about that.

There is a perfectly valid argument about my first ten years of the 21st century (or whatever I wrote, can't be bothered to look)... in fact it's not even an argument. The FACT is that we started at 1 AD (even though it wasn't AD as such, if D... or FD [or is it DF (heh)... latin is rusty but wouldn't one take genitive of dominus and fk knows of fillius?] even existed) and so the 21st century and the 2nd millenium after that arbitary date, which was even't new year meant on the birth ffs, unequivocally started in 2001.

But who cares, seriously?

The decade thing is relevant, purely for convenience of conversation. For sure it is arbitary but it handy to be able to refer to a vague chunk of time like that smile

I don't think I have referred to the decade we are in.

I doubt I will for the next one.
