to me an auction is just that and last second bidding (probably automated) is in not in the sellers interest imho and getting on my nerves. Why cant ebay set it up so that any bid automatically extends the auction by 30 seconds or a minute?

Is it just me or does anyone else think the same?

Just bid the max you are willing to pay.

I must admit I have been guilty of leaving it until the last few seconds before putting my top bid in. This to reduce the chance of the seller getting a friend to run up the bidding then retract their final bid just to make sure I am paying the most I was prepared to bid. I won a motorbike like it once. Haven't been caught again! On lower value items, I don't bother.

If you bid the highest you want to pay honestly theres nothing wrong with doing it in the last few seconds.

Bid too early and you're just inviting competing bidders to change their mind.

If you want an item at any cost just make a higher bid.

Sometimes someone out-bids me on another place; I just think of the money I saved!

This.

People do change their minds. The only way I have ever got a decent price on eBay is sniping.

If eBay changed their process to make sniping irrelevant then I would not snipe. Until then? It's how you win items. If you can't be bothered to wait? You probably don't want the item that much...

Y'know something, though... you're not winning items. You actually have to pay for them. thumbup

TBH I am not sure what the problem is with snipers, having not played MW2. Is there a bug people can take advantage of?

Yes, it's really getting on my tits. Left the house the other day and a .50bmg slammed into my engine block from 2 klicks away.

No they just sit there in tactical games hiding in a corner ruining the fun for everyone else.

Snipers are just the epitemy of the phrase: 'Misery loves company'
