We're doing something different. My eldest is on a gap-year and will be in Oz over Christmas (our first ever Christmas without him)! So, we can't bring him to Christmas, but we can bring Australia to us. As such, we are driving to Bournemouth, where we will go to the beach with Ozzy hats (corks and all), and we will have a swim in the sea. Then we're going home to have a BBQ (turkey burgers) and we will eat said BBQ under an inflatable palm tree! As such, this year, we're having an Ozzy themed crimbo!

Sounds fairly innovative! I suspect you'll thoroughly enjoy it, after all, I personally find it rather hard to get excited by a turkey roast, year on year, though I do enjoy the following few malts and a nap on the Chesterfield!

I'm in Arizona, so my parents and Brother are coming out here this year to spend it with my wife and in-laws. Christmas Eve is actually the big event, as 35 familiy members converge at my in-laws house to exchange gifts and be together. In terms of food, we do a large buffet. Most bring a side-dish/potatoes/desert, I'm doing 15lbs of pulled pork on my smoker, and a few racks of ribs, and my father in law is doing a 12lb prime rib on his rotisserie. Obligatory ham will be on show, hopefully no turkey.

Christmas day will also be at my in-laws, just my imediate family, and my wife's. Lots of eating will ensue, primarily leftovers, and a bottle of Edradour reserve that's been set aside.

No fake palm trees, a few real ones, no beach, but good times nevertheless.

Hope you have a good one. beer

Sounds great! I hope the force 10 gales, torrential rain and mild hyperthermia don't dampen things too much! lol!

Oh and edit to add: BBQ'd Turkey burgers? Add salmonella to my list of doom and gloom!!!

Usual family affair. Free food so can't complain.

I will accost the usual suspects and turn the topic of conversation to MMA, Battlefield 2, cars and watches...

where are you staying? Some ok things to do there but s lot of time in the resorts chilling... If you can get 8/10 people together hire a plane for about 100 usd each and fly to haiti for a day or 2... Stunning there and the low flight over the mountains etc is quality. Also recommend the trip to the waterfalls where they filmed jurassic park... Can't get that close any more but a decent day out

Probably resenting the fact that I have to drive to about 4 different places (family is a complete mess) and can't drink at all.

Either that or being in hospital, depending how quickly my surgery is arranged.

This year I shall mostly having a giant row with my family.
This is due to the fact that at the moment my work is so st and I can't even afford to buy people decent presents that I'm pretty much furious 24/7 and one "Do you want another mince pie?" when I said five minutes ago that I didn't might well tip me over the edge.

Seriously, for the first time in years I'm giving serious thoughts to just staying at home to keep from ruining my realtionships.

Things aren't too rosy with the Toad at the moment....

Staying in Dubai.
Ignoring it until Xmas day itself.
Stuffing my face.
Going to the beach for a booze-up and to watch the sun go down.
Then forgetting about the whole sorry season until next year.

Sauntering round to the brother in laws for a massive feed, gifting and airing of grievances, and then down to the beach if the weather is nice.

I'll be doing the family thing again this year, down visiting the parents. I always look forward to Christmas as it means 2 weeks off work.
