I hate to be doing this but I am stumped. Just quickly let it be known that I personally am well aware that Clairvoyants and Tarot card readers and what not are all a complete scam and am a complete sceptic.

Second of all my sister had a car purchased for her, brand new with her exact spec and choosing soon after passing her driving test, a fact which irks me some what but I digress, that's a whole other issue. My sister has since then decided that she no longer wants said brand new car (a cheap econobox supermini) that she picked out and would rather have a convertible, her reasoning is that the car is now hers and in her name, so she can sell it and do what ever she wants with the money. The car brand new was £6.5k and this was a good year and a half ago not to mention the fact she smokes like a trooper and has dinged it a fair few times and not looked after it in the slightest. Her plan is to sell the car for around £5k (unrealistic) and then use some of her own money to purchase a sports car or convertible hatchback type thing.

My parents largely rolled there eyes and said fine, what ever, but now she has come up with this that has absolutely floored me.

She went to see a Clairvoyant who has told her that she should not drive her current car because she will have a terrible crash in it and that "I would not let my daughter drive the car".

Now, at first I just thought she made that completely up, but alas no, she did actually see a psychic lady where she goes to Uni as my mother emailed the only psychic in the city there and sure enough she has confirmed it, car story and all.

So now my sister is "scared" to drive her car. I am in two minds, is she honestly believing all this and genuinely retarded but also genuinely scared or is she just pulling out all the stops to get herself a convertible, who knows? My advice to my parents was "She is an adult, it is her car, let her sell it and do what ever if she wants to, just dont get involved", but alas, my mother is a very caring sort of mother and doesn't want to see my sister get fleeced by having her swap it for a worse car, emotional blackmail on my sisters part? Maybe, even if only subconsciously knowing my parents wont let her make a stupid mistake and will probably bail her out with money they don't have so she can get what she wants if she is going to change the car anyway.

Any advice? Feel free to troll at my expense, I know the situation is ridiculous and probably doesn't warrant a thread but I have no idea how to play this one.

Her life, her car, her money, her sanity. None of your business.

OR

her life, her death, your guilt at 'not doing enough to prevent it'.

Tricky one.

Tell her to strap a pair on and see the light ie. Don't believe a word of it.

The nutter clarevoyant is probably after a good deal on said car, or alternatively trying some stupid mind game to get her 'on board' for future visits etc

p.s. I don't think she is fit to be driving at all

Clairvoyants.. let me see... if I could fortell the future to that level of accuracy, I wouldn't be charging a few quid to susceptible individuals.

In my view they are troubled people who use a combination of psychology and emotion to make people think they have seen the future. All BS. If there was any science in it then it would be well documented.

If it were true, and I was a clairvoyant, I'd be taking positions on oil/gas/currency futures and retiring.... or laying bets on various events.

Some stuff about my gullible and slightly simple sister believes a clairvoyant and anyway, mum and dad gave her a car and not me, it's so unfair etc. etc.

That, that bit right there above is what's wrong with sending thousands of people who ought to be doing hairdressing or nail filing into higher education, you fill the education system with gullible imbeciles, give them all a degree in fkwitology which gives them expectations way above their station in life and set them loose on the employers of the country with not an ounce of sense or intelligence between them.

Go to the clairvoyant, as her to give you next weeks winning lottery numbers.

When they come up as wrong, prosecute her under the sales of goods act, as her advice was not fit for purpose.

If they numbers DO come up, I want a 20% advice fee. In cash.

The shocking thing is, since your sister is clearly a mong, if/when she starts driving that car she will constantly be thinking she's going to have a crash and that mindset may actually cause her to have one.
