Having to apologise ...
Discussion
....when you don't think you've done anything wrong.
( couldn't get the whole sentence in the title)
Earlier today I was at a 'sports' club that I'm a member of and had pre-requested the quarterly newsletters to be sent to me by post. We do pay a subscription to be a member and normally got these newsletters sent to us as part of the subscription cost. Today, when I was there, the Christmas newsletters were litterred around the club like confetti, and I just said to one of the 'coaches' that I hadn't had mine sent to me... all of a sudden it seemed Armageddon was let loose.
I got a bollicking off the captain saying if there were any complaints it had to go though him, and he'd hand written me an envelope with my newsletter in it...which he then gave me.
All this time I'm absolutely gob smacked...as far as I know I've done nothing wrong, just asked the whereabouts of my Christmas 'sports' club newsletter that's supposed to be sent to me.
The coach in question then followed me to the toilet ( when I needed to go) and it was obvious I had to apologise...which I then did.
I can't see what I did wrong, and I've been a member for over 20 years - I will be cancelling my membership now though.
eta can't spell membership...and also to ask wouldn't you lot be pissed off it happenned to you?

OP. In your first post you put the words 'sport' and 'coaches' in inverted commas.
Admit it, it's not really a 'sports' club and they're not 'coaches' as any straight and law abiding chap would understand.
God alone knows what's in the so-called 'newsletter'.
I'm right, aren't I?
Admit it!

How poor a captain is he ( he's a cox) that he takes one person's word as the truth without hearing the other side...
I have a feeling we aren't getting the full story here.Take whose word? and what did they say? and what would you have to say against these allegations?
eta I don't even know what she alleged, I just got a bollicking by the captain and told that if I had any complaints I was to talk to the captain. I was sitting with the ex bar steward, who was there all the time this 'situation' happenned. I'm amazed, I haven't done anything.

YOU apologised because you were not getting the service YOU paid for? I'm sorry but you either need shooting, or you need to tell the people in that club exactly what you think. Do you have any balls??
No I apologised because somehow I'd offended one of the female rowing coaches...and through obvious body language signals it was what I had to do. The fact that I had no idea that this had happenned, and the captain decided it was so serious that it warranted him to give me a reprimand in front of all the other club members in the bar, without even asking me about it, is what I don't understand.Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
