I'm in the Premier Inn not far from the end of Princess Road (I always thought it was parkway, but google maps says road) and I thought I'd just run down there for a couple of miles, turn around and head back.

Apparently though thats Moss Side, and I'd be very lucky to return with my ipod, and I'll probably get stabbed or shot on the way.

Any better ideas for MCR city centre running? is there a park?

Thanks!

Run the other way. You will get to Withington and Didsbury far better areas than Moss Side. Golf club about 3 miles away.

I always found that running through dodgy areas just gave you more incentive not to stop!

When I said "end" of the princess road perhaps I should have said "start", I'm at the city centre end, so didsbury is on the wrong side off moss-side! bugger!

Worth driving to heaton park?

I wouldn't have thought running through an area you don't know while wearing headphones would be very sensible regardless of the area's reputation - when training in winter I often hear approaching traffic/people before I see them.

What are you doing running if you are near the centre? The Christmas market is on; get some German beer, glühwein and sausages down ya!

Could head (by car) to either Longford Park in Stretford (not far from the Old Trafford ground), alternatively, go to Chorlton-cum-Hardy and head for Chorlton Water Park. Decent sized lake there that would be a nice run.

Walked through there this morning, too many dithering old people looking at scarves. Going on the lash tommorow night, might suggest some beer beer fuelled hog-roast eating!

Someone in the office just suggested the water park, I'll give that a try, apparently there might be a bunch doing the british military fitness thingie down there tonight to make me look like a wally.
