If two slightly scruffy blokes turn up to the front door of our office in Chertsey (known for it's population of chavs and pikeys), claiming "their van has been stolen during the night, and did our CCTV pick up anything?", and my dimwitted and rapidly pention-achieving aged assistant told them our cameras were dummy and didn't work, what are the chanced we're going to be broken into tonight?

Dead cert.

Stick a razoe blade under the door handle, it leaves plenty of DNA around the walls

Yeah they're either:

  • wanting to see the blind spots in the CCTV footage
  • checking if they're dummies
and they're complete idiots because now you've seen them, and their van (and hopefully written down their number plate.

Good luck, whatever happens! Anything of value that can be removed/hidden/ locked to a desk with a role of duct tape and some gum? Ever considered purchasing CCTV? biggrin

Well, I hardly think they'll burgle the place if they don't have a van now!

I think the van being stolen was a lie to see if OP had CCTV. They probably still have it

You'll be fine, that was me and a mate - the van was stolen honest - do you run the antiques shop with the safe in the room out the back by any chance...? if not it was someone else - must've been a spate of vans go missing last night.
