After my 13 year old Staffy passed away in March we decided to get a new dog, she is great! Soft as ste and scared of pretty much everything having been a kennel dog, but slowly gaining confidence!

Give me a cat any day of the week.

No pointless barking.
No aggression.
Not as dumb as most dogs appear to be, try taking your cat down to the park and seeing if it will fetch the stick you've just thrown away, you'll get a "You threw it away you doughnut, you go and get it. I'm off home for a nap, dont disturb me." look off them.

You'll get a not very accurate quote from Red Dwarf from a cat?

Gorgeous! My mum has kept english bulls as long as I can remember, great dogs, loving, protective, probably the most stubborn dog though! Yours looks great! biggrin

Really?! They have to be the ugliest dogs going!

Glad the op is enjoying it though.

Thanks! I thought Staffys were stubborn, not a patch on these, haha! She is the most placid dog we've ever had though, and about as delicate as a brick to the face!

They are ugly, but in a similar vein to Aston Martin Vantages of old - so ugly and purposful looking they become gorgeous!

She's gorgeous. cloud9

Their looks are an aquired taste I suppose, but I think they're one of the best looking breeds.

I had one years ago. Zac was very playful and extremely gentle, unless sorely provoked. He was sorely provoked by a doberman once that jumped over a wall and had a go at us when we were out walking. I'm fairly certain that doberman never did that again. He was also extremely bloody minded - he once made a pretty good fist of climbing a tree in my mother's garden to retrieve his favourite toy, a deflated leather football that my brother threw up there. A very strong character and a brilliant pet.

My sister had one of these many years ago.

They left it alone in the house one day and returned to find it had rammed its head through the wooden kitchen door laugh

Always wanted this breed, just love the look of them. Decided against it and ended up with a trio of Staffords!
Two left, a 13 and 11 year old, both lying here snoring away as I type.

If I plucked up the courage for another dog in the future it would be a difficult choice between a Bulldog
or [Pedant] Bull Terrier. [/Pedant]

When I was a kid, one of these pulled me off of a fence I was climbing. I was climbing the fence trying to get away from the dog smile. This dog also used to jump and swing from a motorcycle tyre that was hanging from a tree.

I still like them though. biggrin

Beautiful dog.
I always wanted one but had to compromise as my g/f doesn't like them much, so went with a bulldog instead.
Best of luck with her.

Yeah cats are great

Bugger off for weeks on end because some one else is feeding them, unlike a loyal and affectionate dog.
Dogs serve a purpose and don't just lie their should someone break in, love to see someone do that to a house containing a bull terrier.
They are spiteful nasty little creatures that stick their bloody claws in your legs.
Their sh*te makes a house stink.
No affection.
They walk of kitchen works surfaces......disgusting.
Go into their neighbours garden dig bloody holes and poop in them.
And dog onwers don't enter threads titled "new dog" and make snotty comments about how their so called pet(unless its a maine coon or Forest cat)and waste of fur called Foo-Foo is better than an animal known as man's best friend.
