Every year the same old story. "we don't get enough snow to justify the investment in specialised equipment to get rid of it".

Hilarious to watch from a distance smile

Why do certain people like snow in the UK when the country is never able to cope with even a dusting? Or is the happiness because it's an opportunity to skyve of work and rip off their employer?

In countries where they've made the investment and have services to make it easier for the general population I can understand it, but in the UK?

What are the odds that half the country will act like it was a surprise, jump in their chealsea tractors with wide summer tyres on and adjust absolutely nothing in their driving style?

The sun is out here in Swansea, no sign of snow, no doubt the supermarkets have been cleaned out of bread, milk and eggs by the panic buying masses as a precaution rolleyes

For me it makes no odds, I'll just work at home if the inevitable infrastructure fails, I just like snow, as someone said yesterday on one of the snow threads it releases my inner child biggrin

It is laughable, but attitudes differ across the UK. I used to live in Humberside, where snow is not exactly uncommon, and life continued unless it was really bad, in which case people still made the effort as much as possible. Later moved to Devon ,where a bit of snow is greeted with panic and people stay at home with a light dusting.

I have tactically parked the new car at the very top of the hill that is my road, rather than the bottom to avoid the "skiers" as they sliiiiiiiiiide down to the main road beer

If I do get snowed in, and my broadband is working, I will be no less productive than if I was at the office! Which is still not very productive, but you get my drift.

They were selling those large plastic snow shovels last Christmas when 1 cm of snow arrived. I actually bought one because they are great for scooping up leaves in the Autumn. I've never had to use it for snow though.

Just had a really fierce snow squall blow through Uxbridge..amazing to watch from high up in our building. Looked like fog rolling in, and while it was big flakes the ground is so wet it didn't settle.

I don't really think it counts as ripping off an employer if you genuinely can't get to work. Last year when we had that heavy snow day, all my trains were cancelled, no buses and roads closed. I'll be damned if I'm walking 10 miles to sit in an empty office, with no work to do because everyone else is at home.
