Pressure hoses - can they be used as a snow machine?
Discussion
Hello. I was thinking that with all this cold weather, could you use your pressure hose as a snow machine given the low ambient temperatures? How cold would it need to be? Would the water freeze as snow or evaporate? Horizontal spay or vertical - which way would be best?
I have prepared the following diagram to help you visualise the set-up:

Give it a go.
The worst that could happen is that you create an ice-rink.

Guess who washed his car two days ago and slipped over while washing it on the newly created Skating Emporium on the driveway?
The answer is me, btw - just to clear up any confusion, y'know.

I didnt fall though.

Like I did a few years ago.

Sorry, I should have been clear, it would be sucking in fresh water as a normal pressure hose, and then the snow creation would occur when the water was projected into the air.
We have cold air here at the moment, but no snow.
You'd also get a cooling effect due to the release of pressure, and the velocity of the waterthrough the air... so it may be possible to have liquid water at 0 degrees going in, and snow at 0 degrees coming down... latent heat of wotsit - same temperature but changed state...We have cold air here at the moment, but no snow.
I am going to test this tomorrow under the pretence of 'washing the car'.
At the very least I should sucuessfully create an OAP unfriendly iced sloping driveway.
I have been reading this page which is interesting - seems there is a whole community of people making their own snow out there: LINK
"We have lots of customers who have been able to successfully make snow in areas such Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, and Northern
Florida. In fact, one of our customers in Alabama was able to make 18" to 24" of snow over a large area in just two
nights of snowmaking during a cold snap!"
Brilliant!
