That i am to be a dad in about 8 months time. I am getting more used to the idea and even a little excited by the whole thing as each day goes by. Is it however normal to be scared and nervous aswell? When she told me ive got to be honest my heart skipped a beat and i paniced a bit lol.

We've been together about 5 years now,(met her when i was 20. I was living at home a razzing about in a nice celica gt4, how things have changed. We now own our home and have lived in it 2 years. We have two engish bulldogs and drive a freelander. Both work (i work some megga hours) in order to pay for it all.

Am i right to be a little apprehensive about it as well as excited? How did you feel a react the fisrt time you were told?

Congrats!

You'll not make a good parent if you are not apprehensive! There is plenty you don't know, and won't know even when
dealing with it!

It will be fun, it will be challenging, it will be rewarding - but most of all, it will be exhausting biggrin

Your current life ends in 8 months. Not only will a new life appear, but your life will be very different.

Yep.

Happy, nervous, scared, apprehensive, panicky, ecstatic....

Wait until you see the heart beat on the ultrasound for the first time. biggrin

Congratulations. Enjoy it.

(PS, don't waste the pregnancy sex! From around 12- 28 weeks, they go mental for it. wink )

And don't put up with any of that "hands off those, they're for the baby..." foolishness either (you'll know what I mean when you see it happening...) wink

Oh, and up to 8 weeks after she stops feeding, you CAN still get a mouthful.

It's funny when they get a "jet" too. hehe

Our little one is 10 and 1/2 weeks old...

My wife has gone out for the evening and I wish I could get him to stop crying! Changed/fed/winded and still crying his eyes out!

He was crying for over an hour... wife decided to pop home (she was only 15mins down the road) to settle him. He stopped crying two minutes before she got home. BAH!

I remember it well.

At the risk of quoting E17, 'Rest upon your chest'.

Lying back with him over my heart always did the trick.

I'll never forgot the face of a couple coming out of the ultrasound room at the RBH in Reading who had just been told they were expecting their second and third children.

Any big move into the unknown is bound to cause apprehension isn't it?

My wife and I had our first one 5 months ago and it's nothing like anyone told us it would be. It's bloody good fun for a start! It's an awesome thing, Congratulations!

Congratulations! thumbup

It's completely normal to be apprehensive!

Mini_Revs no.1 has just turned 6 months, and it just keeps getting better and better!

In the new year I'm going to have to be sensible and sell my fun car as we're going to have to get a bigger pad. A while ago I'd have probably resented having to 'grow up' and be sensible, but now I couldn't give a monkeys. It feels 100% right and I'd do absolutely anything for him.

It's funny how something can come along and completely change your perspective on what's important or not...

Good luck and enjoy yourself! You're going to have a ball....

(BTW - If you're nervous now, wait until you take him/her home from the hospital for the 1st time and you haven't got a nurse / midwife on hand to help! - now THAT's scary) biggrin

Its also extremely hilarious when handing your young child to a childless mate for a hold.

Especially when their missus is on hand
