Right I'm going to come across as really thick here but hey ho.
I live in Hull and as such we have white telephone boxes. I have never really thought about this and considered it 'normal'. It has been brought to my attention that the rest of the country / world / universe do not have white telephone boxes, but red ones. Now I'm fairly decently travelled within the UK and can honestly say I've never noticed.
The only telephone box I remember seeing outside of the 'Kingston Communications' area was possibly silver?

Do you mean telephone boxes as in the the cubicles with pay phones inside them?. The ones around here are clear glass or plexi (never got close enough to know for sure) with red and blue BT logos on them.
Sort of like this one, only not as clean and graffiti free

Its glass in them. Have seen quite a few with smashed panes. The glass breaks up like a car windscreen.Sort of like this one, only not as clean and graffiti free
How are they doing with the internet? being a private compnay with an established network have the done any better than BT.
Hull could become the Internet capitol of Britain.
IIIC there is a council run scheme in Sweeden where everybody has a 100Mb conection. The town has so many compnaies wanting to move there they had to restrict it.

They're trying the same thing in Swiindon. However, having lived there once, they could offer me a free 1Gb/second wifi service with a £500/month cashback, I'd sooner offer to use Number 16 Coarse Grit sandpaper as bogroll for a month than go within 5 miles of the place again.

Give the man a prize. Kingston communications were the company. They were council run for years then floated on the FTSE.
