Life in the United Kingdom..test questions.
Discussion
Some very bizarre ones here.
The Life in the United Kingdom Test" is a test for individuals seeking Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK or naturalisation as a British citizen. The test lasts for 45 minutes, the entrants have to answer 24 questions. the test is based on chapters 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 of a revised handbook (second edition) "Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship". Remember that you need to get at least 75% to pass this test

Some background, incase you have not heard of it.

Well I passed two out of the three tests I took, and the other had lots of questions about Wales and Scotland. How the hell should I know that you wouldn't go to an Estate Agent first if you wanted to buy a home in Scotland?
I do hope those aren't real questions written by real civil servants though? If they are, then the level of literacy in the civil service is frankly a national disgrace!

I did the REAL test in 2007 - and passed. They give you 45 minutes but I was finished in ten. But, being Irish, I naturally knew more about British culture and constitutional affairs than the average Brit does anyway

Bloody foriegners, coming over 'ere and identifying all of our planes.
Eric , as I understand it there is an alternative option. Some kind of test of your proficiency in English rather than that test?my wife will have to do this in the near future. Were you aware of this English test and were you eligible?
2500 potential questions 18 out of 24 I believe. All for people knowing about the country they want to live in , but my wife nice as she is , is a little dizzy. I am coaching here at the moment but she is finding it difficult.

Can't be bothered with the whole test, but I've already found an incorrect one on the first page... (and I got 3 wrong): It is NOT illegal to use a mobile phone while driving, per se! It is only illegal if it is hand held.
Also, what sort of a question is the one about concern over under-age drinking, FFS? If the answer was 'False' the question wouldn't exist!
It probably cost a few hundred thousand of tax-payers money to come up with something considerably less challenging than the average pub quiz (and requiring just as much pure guesswork over the % questions!)

I got the unemployment new deal question wrong, you should get extra points for not knowing things like that.
The mobile phone one is wrong too as just pointed out. Not having kids i didn't have a clue re the time to register the sprog either.
"Compulsory testing help parents a good indication of their children's progress" "Who is responsible on keeping a workplace safe?" "In 1605 when a small group of Catholics have plotted gunpowder to kill the King by blowing up the Houses of Parliament is called Guy Fawkes Night" "The majority of the Britain believes that women shouldn't work in the UK" "Women faced discrimination before 1960 and 1970s in the workplace" are those even English?
"Where does Santa Claus come from?" he doesn't exist you muppets
