Any of you guys on here suggest some solicitors experienced in buying land overseas?

Total numpty in this area, but the wife and I are looking to buy a plot of land and build a semi-retirement home (not looking to leave the UK) for the future. Not sure where to start...

TIA

Cant suggest anyone but a good start would be to pick a destination first, travel there see if you like it, if you have already winner, then perhaps speak to Brits who have holiday homes over there and see who gets suggested, or search for someone maybe via a travel agent who can speak the native language and knows the laws of that country smile

First tell us where.

Laws/regs are different everywhere; you will not get a recommendation for an all rounder. An accountant may be able to advise if there are specific funding issues.

It's in Turkey, towards the south coast. We're looking at a village location. We have a good Turkish friend out there and he's sniffing out some land for us.

But as he's never been involved with this sort of thing before he has no first hand suggestions of legal people, and we recognise we'd need somone clued up on this side too.

The fact that it is Turkey rather than an EU Country makes me VERY keen to make sure that we leave no loose threads.

The suggestion about talking to brits who have bought is a good one - but we think that laws regarding vilages are different to laws for resorts.

I know a guy who is good on Spain and France but Turkey is a bit out of his way. You could try the Law Society's website and see if you can find exactly what you need by using the saerch facility.

That's a good idea, I'll try the website.
